  145. on a 286) and use its alarm to wake you up at 5 pm to go home.

  319.    is a sort of like the "Game of Life" taken to the ocean. Fish (the prey)
  320. and sharks (the predators) swim, hunt for food, and breed. It is based on an
  321. idea published in Scientific American (Computer Recreations, A.K. Dewdney,
  322. Sept. 1983). The user sets the parameters such as life and breeding years and
  323. the program carries out the simulation.

  458. actually look like.  The details of a Julia curve are infinitely small and no
  459. computer can give an exact representation of one, but DRAGON will display a

  564. is a Mandelbrot microscope. The "microscope" means that you can magnify
  565. selected parts of the screen. Since fractals are, by definition,
  566. extremely irregular lines made up of an infinite number of similarly
  567. irregular lines, you can "zoom in" forever. Requires CGA, EGA or VGA
  568. compatible video and at least 512k of RAM. The 386 version is extremely
  569. fast, even without a math coprocessor. A mouse is supported for moving
  570. the pointer and an HPLJ is supported for printouts.

  604. load or save screen pictures.

  628. ANSI.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS file.)  All you have to do is TYPE the file and
  629. watch the color and action. That is, at the DOS prompt, enter TYPE JULY4.ANS
  630. and press Enter.

  632. Pin-Art
  633.    is a text file that contain drawings done solely with ASCII characters
  634. whose ASCII values are 32 or above. The drawings were designed for use
  635. primarily by bbs's, and only ASCII values of 32+ can be reliable transmitted
  636. over the phone and reproduced on the receiving computer's monitor. Even
  637. non-sysops might find the drawings useful and the accompanying text,
  638. entertaining.

  940. automatically splitting the chart into pages which can be taped together.  Being
  941. able to split long lines with commas was one smart option for holding down the
  942. width, another is the ability to list the final level of names vertically
  943. instead of having to spread them out horizontally.

  1321. Morphing is a hot graphics technique in movies, commercials, and music
  1322. videos. Now you can try it on your computer.
  1323.  
  1324. With true morphing, one entity appears to physically transform into
  1325. another, as opposed to one image fading in while the other fades out.
  1326. However, the morphing programs in this set do, in fact, work by fading
  1327. one image out while the other fades in, so the quality of the morph
  1328. depends on your choice of beginning and ending images.
  1329.  
  1330. RMORF (Richard Goedeken, $25) and DMORF (David K. Mason, $35) are two
  1331. morphing programs that support different graphics formats, but which
  1332. work about the same. The PC does not support fading in one image while
  1333. another fades out, so these morphing programs create intermediate
  1334. graphics files which gradually merge the second picture into the first
  1335. until all you see is the second picture.

  1337. You can specify the number of intermediate files to be created. The
  1338. higher the number, the smoother and more gradual is the resulting morph.

  1340. DMORF and RMORF do not display the resulting graphics files, which both
  1341. programs save in TGA format. The only way we found to view them was to
  1342. use a program by the name of DTA to convert them to an Autodesk Animator
  1343. .FLI format and use an FLI viewing utility. (Both DTA and SHOW-FLI are
  1344. included.)

  1439. sounding that you will get bored just sitting there waiting for it to end and go
  1440. on to the next scene. On the Adlib card, the music becomes as entertaining as
  1441. the graphics, so the wait for each scene to change isn't as bad. (This demo is
  1442. probably aimed more at store displays than at someone sitting at their computer
  1443. and staring at the screen.) The program also supports the IBM Music Feature
